Hi all! — I am
Dan Liu
, currently 4th year PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I'm beginning a dissertation on the origins of "sub-microscopic morphology" in the 1930s, and the shift from colloidal to molecular conceptions of biological substance; I'm examining how biologists selectively adopted methods and epistemologies in the physical and chemical sciences, during a time when physical and chemical theory were undergoing dramatic changes. I have a side interest in the history of agricultural science (or, as one of my friends calls it, "culturally competent meat science") and all kinds of non-medical applied biology.
I'll be giving a synopsis of my dissertation work so far at Ishkabibble, on the first full day of paper sessions.
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone soon!
